Hot Tub Safety

by John Helvan

The healthy and fun experience received from a hot tub far outweighs the risks but you should always be aware of the potential dangers are accompanied with hot tubs.

- DO supervise children at all times and make sure an adult is supervising at all times

- DO take your children with you when leaving the hot tub area, even if its only for a few minutes

- DON'T use electrical devices near the hot tub, when possible use battery powered devices

- DON'T allow people with infections or open wounds to enter the hot tub and especially kids with diapers. Fecal matter can contaminate the water and cause others using the hot tub to become ill

- DON'T use a hot tub if you are pregnant
