Get More Coaching Clients When You Ignore the Dream Busters

by Suzan Schmitt

There is a reason you may find yourself stagnated and not knowing what your next step or action should be and it is something you can change once you recognize what the cause is. As adults we have all met with disappointments, failures, and other people who have been supportive or even critical and over time these situations can cause us to lose self esteem and confidence. We can even begin to believe things that are factually not true.

Unbust Your Dreams

Dream busters are all around us all the time and they have been for most of our lives. As soon as we are old enough to have a dream and tell someone about it we confront our first doubter or dream buster. People give their opinion and bust your dreams because they worry or care about you. Usually your dream busters are the people closest to you who have good meaning and don't want to see you hurt or disappointed. They are seeking to protect you but in the process they are diminishing your ability to accomplish your dream.

Be sure to consider what others have to say and hold onto what is true but get rid of doubts that are not true. Again, this is a great time to take out a pen and paper and make two columns. One column should say truth and the other should say false belief. Literally, write down the belief and fill in the truth column first then go to the false belief column and take a look at what part of the belief simply cannot be proven with fact. Usually, none of these beliefs can be proven by fact because your false belief or the false beliefs you have from others have held you back from trying.

Look at it this way if you seek to fulfill your dream by doing something others say you can't do or that won't work and it in fact does not work. You have lost nothing because you never had it in the first place. You may gain knowledge and with that knowledge and a more effort you may be able to accomplish your goal. If you never try you certainly will never accomplish any dream or goal.

Remember the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over then expecting a different result. You must try something new something different to get a different result. So don't let the dream busters sway you. Go for your dream with a plan and don't stop after the first few failures. Use failure as a tool for learning and improving. If you learn from each failure then you are one step closer to success.
