A New World Model

Self improvement requires challenging your current beliefs. You must first change yourself in order to change the world. Spirituality information requires us to think about creating a new world model.

Buckminster Fuller said it best when he told us, “You never change things by fighting the existing reality. To change something, build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete.” This is the essence of creating a better world in which to live. Stop wasting your time on complaining about the existing reality because your complaints, no matter how well founded and no matter how altruistic and no matter how much more “right” they are than the existing reality, only perpetuate the existing reality.

Let's take a look at the universal law that governs all acts of creation. It is called “The Law of Attraction”. This law states that “like attracts like”, or “you attract into your life that which you put your attention on.”

So if you are putting your attention on the existing reality, then you are going to continue to attract more of the existing reality into your life experience. It doesn't matter if you are for or against the existing reality. The more you put your attention on what already is, either yea or nay, the more it remains the same or gets bigger. Let's take a look at war for example. It doesn't matter what war we are talking about. We have a 'war on poverty', a 'war on drugs', a 'war on cancer', and an ongoing 'war in Iraq'. The more you put your attention on the war of your choice, the more you perpetuate the war of your choice. It doesn't matter if you are for the war or against the war. All that matters is that you are putting your attention on the war. All the protesters who are going to rallies to stop the war are actually sustaining the war because of the fervent and emotional attention they are placing on the war. The Law of Attraction says that you bring into your life that which you put your attention on.

Ask yourself this. Do you think that we would have the “Drug Problem” we have in this country if we didn't have a 'war on drugs' that keeps us funneling money, time, resources and media exposure to it in an on-going basis like we do today? What if we never talked about drugs, saw it on the television, heard about it from our politicians and didn't give our police carte blanche to 'fight it'? Would the drug problem exist to the extent that it exists today?

Here is the crux of my argument. If we want a better world in which to live we should stop putting our attention on “what is” and start putting our attention on “what we truly desire”. If we want to live in a world of peace, joy and love, then we should be putting our attention on peace, joy and love. How often do you see these concepts talked about on the nightly news? Not very often, if ever. So what is the best thing you can do to create a new world of peace, joy and love? STOP WATCHING THE NEWS ON TV AND STOP READING THE NEWSPAPER.

You bring into your life that which you put your attention on. If you are continually putting your attention on the evening news, much less the relentless barrage of garbage that is presented 24 hours a day via the television, then you are bringing into your life experience a lot of garbage. Does that create peace, joy and love in your life?

You must put your attention on that which you truly desire. If you want peace, joy and love, then “BE PEACE, BE JOY AND BE LOVE”. Take you attention off of what you don't want and put your attention on what you do want. It is a simple equation and it works.

Here is the equation for creating a better world, “You never change things by fighting the existing reality. To change something, build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete.” Start building your new model today. Start with yourself and then, collectively, we will make the existing model obsolete.
