Treat Your Body as a Temple

If you could add another twenty years to your life would you do it? Most people would say yes of course. But do you believe it can be done? The answer is yes it probably can. While there are no guarantees in life, statistically speaking if you eat organic food, take more exercise and generally return back to a more natural way of life, you will live longer.

In the western world obesity is at epidemic levels. There is a very real chance our children will die before us for the first time in almost 100 years. Why? Our lifestyles are responsible for creating this. We all take too little exercise and eat too much junk food. We expect our families to be healthy although we feed with meat, fish and other produce that has been treated with sprays or antibiotics. If we are lucky we might manage to eat at least five portions of fruit or vegetables a day but we know that we are supposed to do that in a week.

By trying to process all the additives and junk we consume our bodies become overwhelmed. These chemicals cannot be processed properly and end up putting our liver and kidneys under severe pressure. If your internal organs are toxic you are not going to live a long and healthy life.

So what is the answer? Detoxify your life - we all need to do that. More natural foods as close to their original form as possible need to be eaten. When eating vegetables, always wash them very carefully if you cannot afford to buy organic and don't have the space to grow your own. To preserve the nutrients, steam rather than boil them.

Shop bought cakes, candy and biscuits should be cut out of your eating regime. Make your meals from scratch at home - stop buying processed food. Eat plenty of fresh fish, meat, vegetables and fruit - follow the example of the people living in the Mediterranean. Cook using olive oil and other natural oils. Eat more salads and fruit. When eating meat or fish, buy organic whenever possible and eat small quantities of better quality produce.

Do more exercise - get outside into the fresh air. Go have some family fun, get your kids on their bikes. If they depress you, turn the TV off and stop buying newspapers. Be careful what you consume either via food or via your brain - treat your body as a temple.

If you chose the organic lifestyle you can live a long and healthy life. It is your choice. The right one... are you going to make it today?
