With its coastal location, famous golf courses and transport links to Glasgow, Ireland and beyond, Ayrshire has long been popular with commuters and families alike. There is always somewhere to explore, whether it be a seaside town, an island, one of the area's many castles or Ayr's town centre with its fabulous range of high street stores. With a choice of new homes and prices to suit families and first-time buyers alike, there is an array of new homes for sale in Ayrshire available today.

Nestled in the North Ayrshire town of Saltcoats, Stewart Milne Homes' Allandale development enjoys all the benefits of seaside life but is still only 30 minutes away from Glasgow Airport. Offering a range of four-bedroom detached homes from the Barratt Premier Collection, Barratt Homes' Mayfield Manor development in Stevenston is within easy walking distance to a number of schools and the nearest train station is under a mile away, making the area perfect for commuters with families. Prices start from £184,995 with highlights including en-suite facilities, French doors to the rear garden, integral garages and separate studies.

Dawn Homes' The Meadows development in the village of Mossblown, three miles from Ayr, comprises a selection of three- and four-bedroom family villas. A separate dining room, utility room, fitted wardrobes and en-suite facilities are some of the benefits available with prices starting from £122,995.

In Ayr itself, the Kings Park development by Robertson Homes allows buyers a fair amount of choice when it comes to kitting out their new home. A range of designer kitchens is available to choose from and buyers can even have input into the layout of their new cooking area. Large windows are a particular feature to Kings Park with light bathing the homes and French doors bringing the garden inside. Situated in the picturesque Kilmaurs in East Ayrshire, Charles Church's Rowallan Castle development is surrounded by a Colin Montgomery-styled golf course and offers a tranquil setting. Priced at £940,000 the Woburn house type features an impressive master bedroom complete with separate lounge area, dressing room and an en-suite, which features a luxurious Laufen roll top bath.
