5 Tips to Make Money from an Affiliate Account
Amazon is given credit for taking affiliate marketing to a whole new level. Affiliate marketing is the process by which a company will pay someone a commission to sell that company's products. No different then the door to door vacuum sales person from the 50s except now everything is mostly handled over the Internet.
Here is how it works. You visit a website, a business etc., and they ask you if you would like to sell their products for them. In turn they agree to pay you a commission for every sale that you make. Successful affiliates make a nice living making extra cash since the Internet has such a broad reach with so many blogs, RSS readers and social network websites. Here are 5 tips to get you started in making money from an affiliate sales program.
Tip #1: Sell Something You Love I can't stress this enough. World renowned speaker, Zig Ziglar said it best when he said you will only be successful in sales if you sell what you love. Successful people do well in sales because they sell a product as if their life depended upon it. That enthusiasm comes from the fact that they love what they sell.
Tip #2: Get the Product Yourself One of the biggest mistakes a salesperson makes is trying to sell a product they know nothing about. How can you sell a product if you don't know what it does, or what you "really" get for your money? Start by buying the product yourself. Know the in's and out's of what it is you are trying to sell.
Tip #3: Tap Into Your Own Email List Whatever it is you are selling, do you have a friend, relative or acquaintance that would love that product as well? The best way to get started is pitching what you are selling to those that you already know. Most people in today's day and age delete the emails they receive unless they are from someone they already know. Give your own email address book a look first.
Tip #4: Blog Blogs are a great way to push the products you sell. You can start a blog for free on sites like Blogger and write daily or at least weekly on the benefits of the products that you sell. If you can't write anything good about the product that you are selling, chances are you won't sell many of those products.
Tip #5: Social Network By now I am sure you have many people on your Facebook, MySpace and LinkedIN pages. Use those sites to your advantage. Let the friends on your list know of what you are selling and the benefits of the product you sell and how much you like it. People will take the recommendation of a product from a friend a lot faster then they will if you weren't.
Use these five tips to get your affiliate sales program started. Just like anything else in life, affiliate sales takes work as well. The more effort you put into it, the greater chance you will have of success.
