Press Release Mistakes to Avoid

by Glen

Theres an endless supply of tutorials and articles on the Internet on how to write the perfect Press Release in order to supplement your marketing campaign, but there was never a good article on Press Release Mistakes to avoid, until now. As once said 'You do not get a second chance to correct the negative impressions left by an inneffectively written release' and that applies fully towards your press release, so heres what to avoid:This may sound like an obvious one but never submit your press release in uppoercase, its unprofessional and its unlikely and site are going to format it into lowercase for you so is a complete waste of time and gives a negative image on your company.Short press releases are noticable and long ones are boring. In order to get a good length press release make sure you answer the Who, What, Where, When, Why and how in reasonable sentences and your Press Release length should be fineIt must be easy to follow, dont make it easy for an editor to give up reading and reject your press release, if it makes a point and is easy to follow then you are onto a winnerCheck for grammer mistakes and typos. Theres nothing worse then reading a Press Release and seeing a glaring spelling mistake, it looks as though the author took no time in reading the PR. Get somebody else to check it to verify.Dont try to hype your press release. If you are advertising a service or product, outline the basic facts but just make sure that your product / service can do the talking for themselves when the reader checks it out.Press releases are informative, not sales pitches. Dont try to sell your products via a press release, instead simply notify the world about it.When finalising your press release in the online text editor, make sure to preview the article before submitting to check that the formatting has stayed in tact.Keep your press release in third person, to me first person press releases dont tend to 'sit' right with the reader, keep your descriptions clear and brief and you are on your way to a great press release.
