There is just no doubt about it but that a personal face to face job interviews is the best way to go for a lot of people. Then again, for probably about the same amount of job hunters, they can do without the stress and anxiety of an up close and personal one on one interview. For them an online job application is best.

In fact the more you look into it; an online application has several advantages. To begin with, you don't have to burn up a full tank of gas spending a day driving all over the area you live in. Also there's no need for getting dressed up. Then there is the convenience factor as well because you can do it any time of day at your desk in your own home. Also you of course get to take your time with your answers.

What "all job hunters" should know though, and this even includes the people who prefer face to face interviews, is that prospective employers actually prefer online job applicants. It just makes it a whole lot easier and better for them in a number of ways. For instance they can go over the applicants at their leisure in their own homes as well, and they too often don't like one on one interview.

One problem you face as an applicant though, is that as prospective employers sort through online job applications they're dealing with far bigger numbers than they would with, say a handful of paper applications. Not to worry though, if you simply follow a few simple rules that can help to insure that your online application stands out from the rest.

Now when you're messaging and emailing your friends online, grammar and punctuation can for sure be pretty much ignored. In fact a lot of people have completely forgotten how to use it in their writing. For an online application though, it's a must and there are good reasons why. It shows that you care, that you're smart, and that you can learn. The three top qualities employers are looking for.

Try to also let some of your personality shine though on your cover letter, but there's a limit here. You see, you don't want to make it "too personal" lest you come off as an oddball or just unprofessional. Just "a touch" will do. Then make a point of looking back over your life's experiences for things that you can include that relate to the type of work you're applying for. Certain classes you took in high school, etc.
