How To Submit Articles: 5 Common Beginner Mistakes And How To Avoid Them

by Steve Shaw

Even if you've been submitting articles for years, you still may be making some beginner mistakes. It's never too late to turn things around!

Beginners--you can save yourselves a lot of trouble if you will learn how to avoid these mistakes now, as you're first learning how to submit articles. You will see better results and have a better understanding of what it takes make a great article marketing campaign.

Here are 5 common mistakes and how to correct them:

1 - Not doing any research for keywords.

You may have heard that using keywords plays a role in submitting articles, but you're not sure what it's all about. You may think, "Is that really necessary?"

It's easier just to put it off or not think about it at all, but it's really to your benefit to start learning about keywords and how to use them in your article submissions from the beginning.

At the very least, you can use Google's free keyword suggestion tool and come up with some phrases to target in your resource box. Alternate the keywords you target, and be sure to hyperlink the keywords so that they go back to your website.

You can start simple, and then learn more as you get more experience. The important thing is to start somewhere!

2 - Not putting enough attention into your resource box.

This can seriously impact your article marketing success. You need to have a resource box that tells the reader why he should take your advice and also convinces him to click the link going back to your website.

This takes some attention and finesse. Don't just slap together any old resource box. The link is not the only thing that matters--be sure to include a brief author bio and a reason for the reader to go back to your website. You'll see better results if you do.

3 - Submitting too few articles.

You might not know how many articles you should be submitting in order to see results. For automatic submissions, shoot for 8 articles a month. For manual submissions, the quantity of articles needed to make an impact goes much higher.

However you are submitting articles, submitting one or two a month likely isn't going to be enough to make a difference. In order to see the results you're looking for, be sure that you're submitting the right number of articles a month and that you're doing it consistently (each and every month).

4 - Submitting drastically more articles than necessary.

Some people have the mindset that if a little bit is good, then a lot must be better. That might be true in some situations, but not article marketing. If you submit drastically more articles than is recommended, then it can have negative SEO consequences--it can do the exact opposite of what you're trying to do!

So, stick to what is recommended, and don't think that you're going to get faster results or better results by going way over those recommended quantities.

5 - Expecting results right away.

We all suffer from this--we like to see that our efforts are having a payoff from Day 1!

Some people try something for a little while, and when they don't see a drastic change right away they give up. Don't let that be you.

Article marketing takes time to take effect. With your very first article that you submit, changes are starting to happen, but they are behind the scenes, where you can't see them. It usually takes several months for a steadily executed article marketing campaign to create tangible results in the search engines. This is why patience is needed in order to be successful at article marketing.

If you saw yourself in any of these 5 beginner mistakes, know that you're in good company. These mistakes are extremely common, but also extremely easy to correct. Now is the time to make your corrections and move forward with new knowledge. Implementing any one of these solutions can have a huge impact on your article marketing success!
