Neuroliminal Training & EEG Biofeedback Similarities
EEG Biofeedback (AKA Neurofeedback) has shown for well over 30 years that it is the most successful therapy for solving virtually all "Brain Problems" . These include the ADD-Autism continuum, the Depression continuum, Insomnia, Epilepsy, and even some forms of Schizophrenia and addictions. Neuroliminal Training is a simpler way of doing what EEG Biofeedback (Neurofeedback) has done so well for so long. Instead of using expensive electronics and very expensive "doctor time", Neuroliminal Training uses subliminal messaging on a simple CD that is usually played while sleeping, or during the day while doing other things, or perhaps both. "Subliminal" means "below the threshold". With Neuroliminal Training, an audio CD is usually used that contains two different audios. The one that is "heard" by the listener is called the "overlay", and that is designed to be simply soothing. It can be music, surf sounds, rain sounds, or even white noise (static). The subliminal message is then added to this so that it is not really heard by the conscious mind except perhaps occasionally as a muffled mumble in the background that is dismissed by the conscious mind. While this sounds kind of impossible - (how can it work if it's not heard?) - it’s scientific fact that the "unconscious" (or "subconscious") mind does indeed hear the message. Neuroliminal Training like EEG biofeedback: 1. Takes a lot of repetitive messaging to change brain waves. This is no "magic pill". Brainwashing, good or bad, takes a long time. 2. Also, like EEG Biofeedback, It may take from 20-200 nights to succeed. It depends on the individual as does so much in all brain problems. 3. Also, like EEG Biofeedback, there are no bad side effects, only good ones. (Even other persons hearing inadvertently can only have good side effects, such as lessening of some allergies. One mother using EEG BF to train her son actually solved her depression while solving his ADHD! And, she wasn’t hooked up to the sensors!) Unlike EEG Biofeedback, Neuroliminal Training is affordable to the low and mid income family thus offering an alternate to dangerous drugs. Subliminal Messaging is used quite a bit in advertising, although most people aren't very aware of this. It can and does influence us to a certain extent, although it takes a lot of repetition to work. It's a form of "brainwashing" in effect. In my former practice as an Orthomolecular Psychologist, I used subliminal messaging for many patients. It is an excellent tool for behavior modification. I had excellent success using it for flashers/streakers for example. I prepared a script, and recorded it along with the overlay sound on a 3 minute endless tape cassette. I instructed them to play it all night every night. Within a few weeks, the desire to streak or shock by exposing their genitals was diminished or gone. In 2000, Dr von Hilsheimer and I were giving a 4 day seminar in Tbilisi, (Soviet Georgia) to a group of physicians. Dr Von held the floor with an explanation of EEG Biofeedback and how simple it really was. I had been unaware of this usage for EEG Biofeedback since my leaving practice. After the seminar in our hotel suite, we discussed this therapy. When I discovered how well it worked for virtually all brain problems, I immediately thought of the similarity to allergy causation of all the same brain problems. I then proposed my theory to Dr Von: Making the 13Hz brain wave stronger somehow lessens the affect of allergens on the brain. This, again, is a sort of giant leap for most psychologists, and psychiatrists. Not that many are even aware that the major cause of virtually all "brain problems" is allergy or sensitivity! In the early 80's, we had to prove this to MD allergists who weren't aware of it at all! Even today, it's not that well known in conventional medical circles. How can changing the amplitude of a certain brain wave change allergy affect? No one knows! But the anecdotal evidence is strong and growing. In 4 separate tests from 2004 to the present, reports of other coincidental allergies that have lessened or stopped have been received in many cases. This theory seems to be correct with what we know today. While we still don’t know the “why or the how”, we now know how to use it. We still have several different theories as to exactly how electrons travel in a copper wire, but that doesn't stop us from using electricity. Or, to use a closer parallel, we don’t know how or why hypnosis works, but we know how to use it. So, just what does EEG Biofeedback do and how does it work? By putting sensors onto the body of the person, we can get very minute electrical signals in the low audio range that are generated by electrical activity in the brain. Using very strong amplifiers and filters, we can derive a separate frequency or band of frequencies. This particular signal (or band) can be used in various ways to show the patient what a particular brain wave is doing at any moment. (That's biofeedback's essence - using feedback of what's happening to try to better control it). The patient simply tries to control the amplitude or strength of this band of frequencies upward by conscious thought. Turns out it's not quite as simple as it looks. It takes intense concentration, and seems to use a lot more "brain energy" than is usually thought. It's also pretty boring as therapy. Few persons are able to do more than 30-40 minutes at a time. And, it takes a lot of these half hour sessions to significantly change brain waves. For ADD/ADHD, a typical number of sessions is 40-60. (Does that sound a bit like repetitive "brainwashing" to you?) After that seminar where I learned how simple EEG Biofeedback was, I started a leasing company to make it much less expensive to do EEG Biofeedback at home instead of an expensive clinic. It's not brain surgery, and anyone with more than three brain cells rubbing together can learn how to do it. Thousands have, and saved a lot of money. One day in April, 2004, I suddenly realized that what EEG Biofeedback is doing is actually "brainwashing" the unconscious mind, using EEG biofeedback with the conscious mind to change the unconscious mind. I then realized that the same thing could probably be done by subliminal messaging. If that's so, then training of brainwaves can be done by an audio CD at a fraction of the cost of EEG biofeedback (Neurofeedback)! I now had two theories: 1. Raising the 12-14 Hz (SMR) brainwave lessens allergen(s) affect on the brain. 2. Subliminal messaging can be as effective as EEG Biofeedback at very low cost. To test this set of theories, I asked for "paying" volunteers", i.e., they would pay me a deposit, and if they reported weekly or more, they would get the deposit back after a month or two. There were two sets of initial similar tests. The results (even if anecdotal) were amazing! Well over half of the volunteers solved various brain problems ranging from depression, insomnia, and ADD/ADHD improvement. Only one volunteer out of 60+ in these original tests even asked for their money back! It was that successful! The results to date of all four volunteer tests and with hundreds of these Neuroliminal Brain Wave Training systems sold, shows clearly that this system is comparable to EEG BF in success rate (about 85%), takes less overall time, and costs a small fraction of the EEG Biofeedback/Neurofeedback cost. No expensive "doctor time". I even put myself out of the EEG Biofeedback leasing/selling business! Of the dozens of insomnia problems in all tests, over 90% success was reported. There was one "failure" in the first test (before we were fully aware of the Hawthorne Effect (He quit because after improvement for a few days, he suddenly got worse, and was afraid to continue) The results for depression were as good with all depressive volunteers reporting dramatic improvement. Results for ADD/ADHD for the first test were mixed. Not only was this test limited to just raising SMR, we included 3 ADHD boys who had previously failed with EEG Biofeedback. In the second test, ADD/ADHD success was better, but not up to that of EEG Biofeedback. This was also limited to a four week trial, and this test showed that longer times were required for the ADD-Autism continuum. In the two following tests, lowering of the Theta brain wave (4-8 Hz) was added, and the testing lengthened to 8 weeks. (NASA showed that lowering Theta increased concentration and attention considerably, so this is obviously a factor in "ATTENTION" problems.) With these changes, ADD/ADHD results improved dramatically and are similar to EEG Biofeedback (Neurofeedback) results (85+%). In all tests, we asked for “allergy” reports. Many reported several different allergen symptoms not considered "brain problems" were either solved or lessened as well. Including some for other persons (usually children) sleeping in the same room. These ranged over the entire allergy spectrum. This discovery holds promise for severely allergic (anaphylactic) persons who may die if stung by insects, eat peanuts, etc. Phil Bate PhD - Retired Orthomolecular Psychologist Inventor of Neuroliminal Training solving brain problems of: ADD/ADHD/Autism, Depression, Insomnia, Epilepsy, etc http://DrBate.com
