The 2007 NFL preseason is almost here!
On Sunday, August 5, the 2007 NFL preseason kicks off with the Pittsburgh Steelers while celebrating their 75th anniversary by playing a NFL football game against the New Orleans Saints.
The NFL football game will be played at a neutral site in Canton, Ohio, and Bill Cowher will not be there which will mark the first time in more than a decade that the Pittsburgh Steelers take to the field without him.
Mike Tomlin, the new head coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers hopes for his first career win, although it is only a preseason game, he will be happier to see that none of his top football players get injured in the game.
The offseason was a place that the Steelers and the Saints made no Huge moves or trades for this NFL season. Last year after winning the NFC South, the Saint's lineup will change very little, but the Steelers on the other hand with a disappointing 8-8 season last year will look at a few changes. The usual starting players will play in the early part of the game and in the second half expect the backups to show their talent.
Ben Roethlisberger who had a bad start last season will likely be working on some new techniques for his game during the preseason in 2007. Roethlisberger will see his usual receivers Hines Ward and Santonio Holmes early on, but Willie Parker and Najeh Davenport, the backs will do most of the work during the game.
With the best offense in the NFC, the Saints and Drew Brees will continue doing what they do best. After Joe Horn left, Devery Henderson and the rookie Robert Meachem will battle for this starting job, and Marques Colston with a breakout rookie campaign will want to improve his numbers. Some experts are saying that the Saints are better on the ground even with their success in the air. In the Saints backfield, the formidable pair of Deuce McAllister and Reggie Bush seems to prove the point.
