Transvaginal Tape Information
There are a number of treatment options available for women suffering from Stress Urinary Incontinence (SUI) and among the different treatment options available, transvaginal tape is a treatment offered for women with more severity in the problem. It is a technical advancement in the field of medicine denoted by other terms like pubovaginal sling, pubourethral or suburethral. It is a way of offering treatment to common type of pelvic organ prolapsed in women caused by falling out of pelvic organs from their original position. This medical procedure is shortly called as TVT Procedure and it can offer support to the sagging urethra in such a way that when women with urinary incontinence problem suddenly cough or laugh, the urethra will remain closed thereby preventing leakage of urine, which is the main problem with urinary incontinence.
In this form of surgery, the medical professionals will place a mesh tape in the urethra of the patient like a hammock or sling in such a way that the urethra can be kept in its normal position. Here, the tape is inserted through a small hole in the abdomen and wall of the vagina. No sutures will be done for holding the tape in place and the procedure will take just half-an hour and it is normally done under local anesthesia.
Within a few hours of transvaginal tape surgery, the patient will be asked to urinate to test the responding of urethra and bladder to the surgery and she will be discharged to home on the same day or might be required to stay overnight. Generally, this surgery is known to cause lesser discomfort and minimal pain and even though the patient can resume to her normal works within a week or two, they will be advised not to drive at least for two weeks and to keep herself abreast of strenuous activities for a minimum of 6 weeks.
This procedure is recommended for women with severe incontinence and normally hospitalization and recovery time for this procedure is minimal and it is widely used for enabling women to get out of their awkward SUI problem.
When it comes to taking up this medical procedure, it is essential that women should select a professional medical centre since if not done properly; it can cause some future health hazards in women. There are cases where some women, who have undergone this surgery faced several health issues since the surgery was performed by some unprofessional hospitals and health centres.
