Making Your Own Wallpaper Books
Developing a wallpaper book is a simple project which enables the use of any other wallpaper samples. Designers and manufacturers make use of the books as a means of showing customers a variety of styles and designs available. Even a store that specializes in wallpaper are not able to carry every single available design. The store owners generally go for the most favored designs and display those designs in the showroom. The store then normally takes smaller pieces of other styles and places those inside a book. Customers can flip through the book and look for designs not available on-site. When the customer finds anything he likes, the shop orders it from the supplier.
Making a wallpaper sample book requires glue or wallpaper paste, wallpaper samples, scissors, a ruler and a journal or sketchbook. On the list of the easiest ways to make the book is by using an existing hardback book. Since the hardback book is already bound, the crafter doesn't need to be concerned about the book falling apart after. The crafter should cut the wallpaper samples into smaller pieces the identical size and shape as the pages in the book, if not a bit smaller. The ruler makes sure that the edges of the wallpaper stay straight and doesn't curve or look uneven. Right after applying glue or wallpaper paste to the back of the wallpaper sample, the crafter presses it against the page and allows the glue to dry.
A similar project consists of using smaller sheets of wallpaper, normally around two inches by two inches. Each page in the book is capable of supporting numerous designs, which is an excellent option for those that collect vintage wallpaper or samples. A small amount of glue used on the back of the wallpaper is usually strong enough to hold it onto the book page. The obvious way to keep the pages from looking sloppy or maybe messy will be to lay out the design on a piece of paper precisely the same size and shape as the book page first. Placing a ruler flat against the page helps too because it keeps each piece even and level on the page.
A different way to create a wallpaper book is by covering a notebook with the use of sheets of wallpaper. Open the book down the middle and set on a sheet of wallpaper. Trace throughoout the edges, leaving a two inch border between the paper and the notebook. Remove the notebook and apply a thick coat of glue to the front and back covers of the notebook. Wrap the wallpaper across the cover and press down. The crafter smoothes down the wallpaper in order to avoid air bubbles and give the surface a smooth look. Use more glue to the inside edges of the notebook and then wrap the wallpaper over. If the glue dries, it holds the wallpaper constantly in place.
