Arranging your store for maximum sales is an art in itself. You want to draw repeated attention from your potential customers. You also want to draw your customers to as many products and displays in your store as possible once they are drawn inside. There are a few things to consider, including reducing loss, when you set up your retail store for the season.
The first objective is to get your store noticed. You may choose to do this by advertising or holding a special sales promotion. Signage out in front of your store can be very eye-catching and draw a lot of attention. This is especially true if the sale or promotion is accompanied by an attractive line of products visible from the outside of the store. Changing up your promotions often will keep the interest of your customers, even if you have not brought in any new inventory.
You can cleverly sell more ignored items while achieving the sales traffic that you want to see throughout the season. Promoting a certain line of products at the front of the store will surely bring in more sales of these items. If you have other items in the store that are not selling as well, then there are a few things to consider.
Placement could be a problem. Could moving these slow-moving items to the front of the store help your sales? Try placing them on a special table where they will be seen by either passer-bys or people that are just entering the store. Another option is to spotlight the item. No matter where the item is located on the sales floor, using clever lighting techniques will draw the eye to that area and make the product more attractive. Use mannequins for the maximum impact when trying to move slow items.
Simple techniques such as moving inventory around can help customers to notice items that they may have overlooked on their first pass through your store. This can help to retain interest and sell items that may not be as exciting as the one you initially put in your window display.
Use lighting to draw attention to areas that you feel are not getting enough attention. Lighting also cuts down on theft. If there are dark corners or areas where shoplifters can get out of sight from your employees, use lighting to make them feel uncomfortable about stealing from these areas. Bright spotlights make thieves uneasy and they are far less likely to shoplift if they do not feel comfortable.
Using lighting, arrangement, signage and mannequins can keep your sales rolling in. Use your imagination and keep things fresh in your retail store.
