Caught In The Rain
While getting caught in the rain can be an uplifting experience, it often turns out to be miserable. Here are a few ideas to make sure you don't end up looking like a drowned rat.
Take An Umbrella
We all know what an umbrella is and how they can be deployed, and most of us own at least one of the contraptions. However, we don't always remember to carry one around and can often be caught out when the heavens open. There are smaller ones that you can fold up and carry in your handbag (if you take one with you) otherwise you just have to be alert to what might happen weather-wise while you're out.
The other irritating factor about umbrellas is that if you don't have one and are out in the rain and on busy streets where they are open then the little spikes on the ends are at eye level and can be really quite dangerous. So be careful!
Move From Shelter to Shelter
If you look around your typical city centre there are actually lots of shelters than can be used to hide from the rain. Assuming you aren't inside a local shopping centre then you can look out for bus stops, as well as canopies hanging out from cafes or other types of shop. By planning your route down a street ahead, you can dart from one shelter to another, thereby ensuring that the time you are exposed to the elements is minimal.
Check the Weather Forecast
If it's not raining when you leave the house then it might be a very good idea to check what is going to happen when you leave, particularly if it looks like it might rain. There's really no excuse not to find out what the weather will be like, with twenty-four hour weather channels in abundance, as well as access to high speed internet on our computers and telephones. Really, the only thing you need to worry about is that your forecast isn't accurate and that mistakes are made by those predicting it, but the scientific advances made in this field have meant that this scenario is now actually quite unlikely, regardless of what we believe.
As you can see there are many ways to avoid getting a soaking next time you leave your house, it's just a case of being prepared, planning ahead or using your cunning.
