Having your own home gym is a great way to have easy and fast access to gym equipment. The problem that more than 95% of home gym owners face is that they do not use their exercising equipment enough. In the beginning, most new home gym owners will be thrilled to use their new exercise equipment but their motivation will rapidly go away. How can a person keep on with her new resolutions of exercising regularly and keeping fit with the help of her home gym? The answer I found that worked great for me is quite simple: I need to get my mind off the fact that I am exercising. I know many trainers will say you should focus on the exercises you are doing and look at yourself in the mirror to correct your posture while you exercise, etc. If I do that, only focus on the exercises and push myself, I feel like stopping after ten to fifteen minutes into my exercise routine. On the other hand, when I am in my home gym and exercising on the machines, I don’t mind exercising for more than half an hour if I am listening to my self-hypnosis recordings. What worked the best for me though was when I exercised while watching a movie. I can then go on for an hour and a half to two hours of exercising without feeling like I am forcing myself to do so. I even watched the movie Titanic entirely while exercising. So, the most important piece of equipment in my own home gym is my television set. The problem I have is that even though I put the movie sound very loud, the exercise machines are making a lot of noise. I bought some wireless headphones but I guess they were of poor quality (although I paid them a good price) because I hear a lot of distortion and they are just not good enough. Some might argue that watching a movie while exercising might not be the best way to exercise but for me it is a great way to use my own home gym frequently. In case you don’t feel like exercising one day, work up the courage to just get started. When I am tired or if it’s late and I don’t really feel like exercising, I just go down to my home gym and tell myself: I only need to do ten minutes of exercises. Sure enough, when I pop in the video, I get caught up in the action and end-up doing more exercises than I expected. The first step is the hardest. As an added bonus, when you exercise regularly you sleep better as your body is benefiting from natural sleeping hormones. The best part about having my own home gym is that once I am done exercising, I just have to walk up a couple of stairs and I can enjoy a well deserved warm bath. It is obvious that any person considering having her own home gym and starting an exercise program should consult with her physician first.
