Munich is the third largest town in Germany. It is famous for the Oktoberfest and the 1972 Olympic Games. Here we will try to know more about Munich and what the town has to offer residents and visitors.
Munich is the capital city of Bavaria with a population of 1,494, 608. The majority of the Munich residents of the town are Germans but there are groups of Turks, Albanians, Croats, Serbs, Greeks and Austrians. The city lies close to the Northern Edge of the Alps at an altitude of 520 m. It has a continental climate, but the Alps have an influence.
It would be interesting to know about Munich rapid industrialization post World War 2. BMW, the premium German automaker has its headquarters in the city. Siemens AG and MAN AG also have their headquarters in Munich Germany. The town has a modern transport infrastructure consisting of Munich S-Bahn which is the suburban train system, Munich U-Bahn which is the underground railway system, trams and buses. Munich Hauptbahnhof is the main railway station of the city. There are innumerable educational institutions which makes the town an education hub. University of Munich, Munich Business School and Akaemie der Bildenden Kunste Munchen are some of the leading institutions of the city.
Oktoberfest is what Munich is more famous for. During this time millions of people from all over the world come here to drink beer and indulge in merry making. This is a good time for visitors to visit Munich.
