Proteins are the building blocks of growth. They aid in the formation and repair of muscles, red blood cells, skin and other tissues throughout the body. Proteins are a necessary source of eight essential amino acids that the body is unable to naturally produce, however, these amino acids are easily supplied through animal- or plant-based proteins. While not all proteins are considered complete proteins—that which provide all essential amino acids—there are many health benefits associated with each protein type.

It is a good source of vitamin B, fiber and complex carbohydrates. However, rice protein is not a complete protein source, therefore it should be consumed with another protein source so as to provide the maximum benefits and all the essential amino acids needed by our body.
Pea protein, sourced from yellow split peas, is another vegan and allergy-friendly protein source. Like rice protein and most other plant -based proteins, it is easily digested by the body and is associated with high satiation, thus making it a powerful aid in weight loss.
Many athletes who are vegan find it difficult to meet the protein demands of their bodies. Dietitians recommend a combination of rice and pea proteins when whey, a dairy-based protein, cannot be consumed. Although both rice and pea proteins offer nutritional value on their own, when consumed together they are the first vegetarian protein source that compares with animal-derived proteins by providing all the essential amino acids. Rice protein is low in lysine, an amino acid which is important for human growth and aids in strengthening the bones, but pea protein is rich in lysine. Pea protein is also a great source of other amino acids, such as glutamic acid, that lends support during physical exertion. So even though rice- and pea-based proteins have individual limitations, together, they form the perfect vegetarian combination.
