Quick Look at This Weekend’s Action on NCAA Basketball

by Cathy Jones

Notre Dame lost five consecutive league games by a single possession, but this does not make Notre Dame unlucky. Giving up a game-tying 3-pointer to Louisville's Taquan Dean at the buzzer in regulation was not good or bad luck; it was a matter of bad defense. This problem has Notre Dame suffering the losses. But Dean was the man that they couldn’t have making that play against them, a proven shooter, a senior leader, the guy every Cardinals fan would want taking that shot and Notre Dame just couldn’t defend that play as poorly as they were playing defense. Passing over to Nebraska, we have to say good job on winning those three consecutive Big 12 games, including that eye-catching victory against Oklahoma State. The Cornhuskers are 5-3 in conference but face their toughest stretch of the season, with Kansas playing at home and then taking over to Texas and Iowa State.
