Who Ees Dee Lucky Meng? I Want to Know Too!
Have you heard of Lucky Meng yet? If you haven't, give it about another week and you will end up with links to his new video in your email inbox, on your Facebook wall and through out whatever other social media sites you frequent. This video is crazy! It starts with a silhouette of a man with his hand up in the air and blue lights lighting up the background… not too bad. but then the all the lights turn on! I swear I thought this was a bad joke, the silhouette of the man turns around and he is wearing a bad knock off of the the white leisure suit John Travolta wore in Saturday Night Fever with the top buttons undone and a Mexican wrestling mask on. The lameness gets better don't worry. The whole video was edited to make it look like he was in a disco of some sort. Lights flashing, neon colors, and some super stiff dance moves made me feel embarrassed for the guy who was singing, but then I remembered, 'he has a mask on' and suddenly I understood why he wasn't showing his face. I'm all for the concept of to each their own but this video doesn't make sense, especially if he wants to be taken serious as a musician. I couldn't even tell if the artist could sing because his vocals were so auto tuned. Production quality on the video was pretty stellar thought, even if all the shots did look the same. Besides the Luchador masks he was wearing, everything else basically sucked. I know there are some folks that enjoy the video and think the song is good; personally I don't think the song is good but damn if I can't get it out of my head so I guess the song itself isn't a complete waste. Folks keep labeling the video as 'the worst video ever' , I think that is kinda harsh but I do agree it has to be in the top 10. Given the fact I don't even understand what he was trying to accomplish artistically with this video.
