Error Codes And Ways To Prevent Or Repair Them

by Brian Williams

If you own or use a personal computer, you have probably seen at least one error code on your screen at some point, and most of us have seen many more than this. Each specific error code is telling you that there is a problem somewhere in the system, program, or application and pinpointing specifically what the problem is that occurred. Whether it is a dll error, a Direct X error, an ActiveX error, or one of the thousands of other error messages, you have a problem. The error code will specify what the problem is so that it can be repaired, allowing you to access the applications with no issues.

How To Fix Error Codes

Knowing the error code can usually help you decide which actions to take. There are thousands of errors that may occur on a computer, and unless you are a computer genius you are not going to know every code and how to fix each one. The Internet can be both good and bad concerning error codes, because many of these errors may relate to downloaded files or programs. Malicious software programs, including viruses, trojans, worms, and spyware are very common reasons for you to get an error message on your computer.

On the other hand, the Internet provides a huge amount of valuable resource material for any error and error code that may occur, including the causes and repairs. Simply run a search online using the specific error code in the message displayed on your screen. Results will vary from very technical programming information to software intended to repair the most common errors on your computer, and everything in between. This can be a great way for any user, no matter how little they know or understand computers, to find ways that they can fix the errors without professional help.

There are some preventative steps you can take to keep errors from happening in the first place, and many of these will also affect the performance of your system beneficially as well. Find a good anti virus and anti spyware program, and install both of these. These two programs will protect your computer against almost every form of electronic infection or malicious software. Check for updates and run a scan on your system daily with each program. Updates will add any new definitions to the software database, and system scans will ensure that your computer stays secure and runs great.

The most effective way to prevent error codes and messages is to use a registry cleaner. Many errors occur because of a conflict in the registry, as a result of unremoved file pieces and keys. When you remove a program, the system does not always remove every shred and may leave fragments of the program behind. These are useless and can not be used, but they clutter up your registry, causing your computer to lose performance and speed while showing error messages. File pieces from an earlier version of a program may cause conflicts and result in errors.
