Network Marketing - The Pros And Cons

by Lora Dobbyn

There are both pros and cons to any business, and this includes the network marketing business model. You need to understand this so that you can work with getting a handle on it. Like any other business that you want to stick with, you need to know what you're getting into. Beginning your journey with network marketing is going to be the toughest. It is extremely common for people to sign up, and then do nothing at all once they are in. People typically end their network marketing career as soon as they realize they have to talk to people. Instead of joining right away, you should learn about the business, and only sign up after that point.

You need to have the right mindset for this business, and the more serious you are about marketing it the better off you'll be. The lifeblood of this business model is leads, and ideally you want new ones each day. One way to leverage with lead generation is to purchase leads, and you can always find a way to generate leads online. What you can do is try outsourcing lead generation for a month or two and see what your close rate is and then make a decision. Don't be afraid to try something nobody else in your upline is doing because that's how you make discoveries. Renting lists of network marketing leads is something you have to test until you find a good source you like.

How you approach your beliefs and mindset will basically determine if you make it or give up. One example is becoming more disciplined in your daily life. What you will find out very fast is that you've just taken a second job which will place demands on you. You'll be tired and won't feel like doing anything, but you must market and prospect when you're tired. One thing that will help you out is figuring out your own methods for landing prospects and then working them.

Despite people's misperception of network marketing, you should understand this is not a hobby at all. You have to be 100% serious about your business. It is a bona fide real business model. You need to have a marketing budget, and a mindset that will allow you to succeed. Draw up a plan of action of what you can do while staying within budget and then never deviate. It is really a recipe for disaster if you begin your business by charging everything on your credit cards. Reasonable and realistic amounts of training need to be done as well. Purchasing high-quality training modules, and attending local meetings, will help you succeed.

If you truly like the network marketing business model, then by all means do it and become the best you can. Avoid thinking this model of business is so different from other models - it is and it is definitely not. Get 100% serious about this or anything else you do and that attitude will move you forward.
