How is A Positive Attitude Like a Good Roof?

Introduction
A roof is like your attitude it overlies everything. The roof covers and protects your beautiful new house. Just as in life your attitude overlies everything you do. The roof is like your attitude about life and living.
If your roof leaks, your new home will be ruined; likewise if you attitude sucks you life will be ruined.
Attitudes are judgments. They represent the degree of like or dislike for a person, place, or thing. They determine how we think, act and are perceived. The good news is we have complete control of our powerful attitudes.
Winston Churchill, "Attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference."
How to Get an attitude of Gratitude.
1. You get to choose, every day you choose your attitude. If you wake up with "stinking thinking", change it. You have the power at any minute of the day to reverse how you act and react. Learn to control you thinking and your attitude will follow.
Along with your meditation and spiritual reading, another great starter task for the day, is to write a gratitude list. Write at least five things you're grateful for. Do this every day for a week and you'll be amazed at the change in your attitude.
Gratitude turns what we have into more than enough. It clarifies that we are always in our right place and that just for today you are truly blessed.
Gratitude makes feelings of want and lack disappear. It's funny when you have a good attitude, people become so much nicer.
2. Learn to look at life's bumps, troubles, and unexpected events as life experiences not a catastrophes. You get to choose, is your life full of problems and woes or learning experiences? It is truly all in your attitude.
The attitudes you choose determine your life. It's imperative that you work on developing a positive attitude every day.
Life is probably 5% what happens during your day and 95% how you react to it. Your attitude creates success.
3. Learn to master your attitude and you'll live a longer, healthier, happier life. A negative attitude is actually a slow killer.
A study of some 1500 people over a seven-year period, found that people who maintain a positive attitude were less likely to show early signs of aging. They were stronger and healthier than their contemporaries who carried a negative attitude.
How to Catch a Winning Attitude
1. Attitudes are reflected in how we respond. Attitude manifests itself in the way you behave. Want to change it? Monitor it, become aware and correct when you find your behavior driven by a bad attitude.
You have a choice. You've heard the saying "choose your battles." I think it is wiser to "choose your attitude." When you consciously choose a winning attitude, you have fewer battles to worry about.
2. Your attitude is the first thing people sense when they meet you. Before you speak a word your attitude is picked up by other people. So before you head out for the day, spend some time chucking your loser attitude and putting on your enthusiastic, successful attitude. Act like a winner and you will be.
3. Keep a good attitude and nothing can rain on you parade or your furniture. Keep your roof and your attitude in good repair. If there is a missing tile fix it. When your attitude slips catch it and change it.
How's Your Attitude?
Take this quick attitude check. When you are late for appointment:
Are you angry Do you accept it and decide to allow extra time in the future Do you blame someone else Do you apologize and resolve next time to allow more time?
If a major account cancels the deal:
Are you depressed Disappointed but move on to the next appointment Disappointed but make five calls to potential clients
How you react to life shows your attitude.
Things to do Change your attitude
William James, "Whenever you're in conflict with someone, there is one factor that can make the difference, that is attitude."
1. There is an amazing action you can take, that turns not only your attitude around but quickly alters the attitude of another. Simply accept responsibility and when you are wrong admit it.
There is nothing quite so defusing as saying, "You know what? I made a mistake. I was wrong." So powerful and so seldom used. We are somehow afraid to make a mistake. Learn to own your mistakes, when it's yours, accept and correct it.
How about the power of a real apology. The commonly used, "Sorry about that." is not an apology at all. There is no acceptance of responsibility in that statement. It is sort of a flip off.
A real apology says, "I was out of line and I am sorry." See the difference. You accept responsibility and apologize. Making both parties feel better.
2. Attitude is everything. I like this quote by Jimmy Dean, "I can't change the direction of the wind, but I can adjust my sails to always reach my destination."
Attitude is the manner, disposition, feeling, position tendency or orientation. A state of mind or a feeling.
Charles Swindoll, " The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life."
3. Daily attitude evaluation is imperative to maintaining a good attitude We get to choose our attitude everyday.
Develop an attitude plan and acquire an attitude of gratitude. It will take a conscious commitment to maintain your new attitude adjustment
Summary
Take care of your attitude & it will take care of you. Keep your roof in good repair and your furniture won't get wet.
John Mitchell, "Our attitude toward life determines life's attitude towards us."
