How A Homeowner Can Save Cash On Window Cleaning
Window cleaning is certainly not the most fun activity in the world, but someone has to do it. A good housewife should not wait until it is almost impossible to see through the glass before cleaning it. Windows help enhance the beauty of the interior but only if they are clean.
Ideally, this housework should be done at least once a month. An individual, who is not very fond of this type work, should split it into a few stages. For example, if the house has more than one floor, split the work on the 1st and 2nd floor. One day, clean everything on the bottom floor, and the next day move to the second one. Or, if the household has more members, each one could clean in their own room.
Weather is an important factor. It should not be too sunny, as this will cause the detergent to dry too fast, leaving ugly stains on the glass. If possible, rainy days should also be avoided, as rain will certainly leave large marks on the freshly cleaned glass.
The basic tools for this housework include; a bucket, detergent, cloths and sponges. It is also useful to have a small broom, to clean the dust off of frames. Many people use old daily newspapers for the final wiping, as it is known that the paper used in newspapers can do wonders when it comes to glass polish.
The procedure is simple. First, clean the dust off of frames using a small broom. Then, wash the frames using a sponge, water and a very little detergent. If the frames are made of wood, be careful, as too much water could damage them. Frames do not need to be cleaned as often as the glass surface. It is sufficient to clean frames only twice a year.
After the frames are cleaned, move to the glass surface. Glass should be washed on both sides, using a sponge with water and detergent. Be careful and wipe the whole surface, as the most common mistake is to not wipe the angles well. If the glass is very dirty, a mixture of 5 spoonful's of kitchen salt and water will help remove those ugly stains. Dry the glass using a soft cotton cloth or old newspapers. When using the newspapers, wear gloves, as newspapers tint could leave marks on the hands.
Medical alcohol can clean the glass nicely. If a person is not bothered by the smell of it, it can be used to clean all glass surfaces in a home. It is also very useful for greasy stains on furniture and home appliances.
Hiring someone to do the window cleaning only makes sense if a house or apartment is really big or the members of the household are very busy and can't find the time to do it. Times are difficult, every penny counts, so instead of paying someone to do this easy job, one should do it by themselves. Combined with some good music, this could also be used as an exercise. Organize your family and do the monthly cleaning. That way, not only the windows and whole house will always be perfectly clean, but it will also teach the children to take care of their space.
