Acer Laptop Won't Charge The Battery: Determining Need For A Repair Or Replacement

- Boot the machine and find the battery icon on the lower right hand of the screen. Move the mouse on the battery icon to see how much power remains. The operating system will be able to show that the battery is charging. However, if there is a red X sign over the battery icon, it's highly likely that the battery is dead.

- Open the control panel and go to power options. Check the recharging tab which indicates battery activity. If the battery is charging, there will be an animated indicator showing the same. If the battery is not taking a charge, there will be a red X sign on the battery icon indicating that the battery is dead.

- Replace the battery if it is dead. To get an exact replacement, visit the official Acer computer website and find the correct battery for the laptop model.

It's advisable to buy new batteries when going for a battery replacement rather than buying a second-hand accessory. It might also be beneficial to consider buying two batteries. This will extend the period of laptop use in circumstances that involve extra work that requires more battery power. Users can swap dying batteries for new ones till they get to an electrical outlet to recharge the batteries.

Most laptop batteries do not give power for the amount of time that their manufacturers indicate. The amount of time that a laptop can run before the battery gets drained depends on the activities of the user. More power is expended when doing such activities as playing computer games or watching movies than when creating documents.
