MMA Training - All You Need To Become a MMA CHAMPION!

Without a doubt, the first thing you need to do is get your tail in shape! On this lens I will provide some tips for your training and development that I use in my gym with my fighters. If you don't have a gym membership there is still plenty of useful info here for you to put into action in your own home. Eric Wong has a great new book which includes a 4 week conditioning program, and best of all it's free.

What you need to win

Anyone who has ever fought, no matter it be on the streets or in the octagon will tell you that even thirty seconds in a fight can seem like an eternity. Why you ask? Put simply, in a fight you give everything you have physically against everything your opponent has. The fighter with more to give, mentally and physically will be the fighter standing in the end. The first to lose confidence or breath will usually be the first to get knocked out! Your fitness level is critical in winning a fight or surviving an attack. With that being said, not everyone has the time or money to put themselves through a proper training and conditioning program. Your training will improve many aspects of your body including; power, speed, agility, reaction time, coordination and balance among others. Training drills to improve acceleration, power bursts, quickly changing directions, among others will be imperative to your success! It is important that whatever workout you choose, that you modify it to your own individual performance level. We are not all created equal physically, so keep this in mind.

Confidence, Courage and Perserverence

It is imperative during your training that you focus on having a never-quit attitude and a lifestyle that prepares you for battle. Sharp focus and determination are two qualities that any successful person in life will possess. These habits will prepare you for any unforseen challenges that may come your way. The ability to deal with problems calmly and effectively is a trait you cannot put a price on! Breaking down mental barriers will allow you to find courage and bravery that you knew was inside all along! With these mental excercises in mind, there is no telling what you are capable of!

Motivation

Many fighters jump in to this game, see just how hard it is to prepare for a fight and quit. The key is to avoid temptation! The first few weeks of your training you will likely find it tempting to skip this particular workout or eat this fattening pizza. You must possess self-restraint whenever possible. It takes commitment and dedication to maintain you training routines. You must leave the stress of the outside world on the outside. Just get in there and do it!

Diet

I've seen guys workout in the gym all day and go home with a bag of fast food. I don't believe this guy would be enjoying his 1/4 pounders as much if he knew just how much fat and nasty stuff he was eating. Why spend your precious time working yourself to death only to sabotage any gain with a horrible diet. With that being said, diets are only a temporary solution if used on its own. Diets will always become old and some point and you will be right back where you started. Adopting a lifestyle of a balanced diet and regular exercise really is the key to a healthy body. It's been shown that exercise is a great way to deal with stress and anxiety of our everyday lives. Exercise can also increase self-esteem unless you are already a cocky SOB such as myself! There's nothing like the satisfaction of doing something you could not do before. Exercise brings confidence, helps your posture and brings more energy.

No Excuses Many people will say they just don't have enough time in their lives to exercise. What you need to do is make exercise a priority and stick to it! When exercise is enjoyable, satisfying, convienient, and meaningful, it will get done. Other people will tell you they don't have the energy to exercise after a long day at work. Just a 30 minute workout routine will help dissapate mental fatigue and leave you feeling refreshed for the rest of your day!
