Besides the kitchen, remodeling a bathroom can be quite a pricey endeavor. It doesn't take long to spend over $10,000 purchasing new toilet bowls and whirlpools and then adding in the cost of labor. But if you're on a budget, there are lots of ways to save some serious cash. Whether you're doing a complete revamp or just looking to change up the motif, you can make your bathroom look beautiful without breaking the bank.

Unless you're an expert at DIY projects, the most expensive part of a remodel is the cost of labor. It's hard to save money on this part of the job, but you can do the demolition yourself. Just don't break anything that doesn't need to be broken. Also, don't destroy the plumbing if you're trying to rip out the toilet bowls. Use caution and the proper safety measures. It's also going to cost a lot more if you want to install your new toilet or soaking tub on the opposite side of the room. If you can, try to stick with the original layout as best as possible.

When it comes to the fixtures themselves, do you really need a new soaking tub? If your fixtures are very old, outdated, or just don't work properly, then yes, you really do need new ones. If you desperately want the most expensive ones, consider using them as just accent tiles instead. Those on tighter budgets can do some easy updates instead of purchasing all new items. Paint over your current vanity and change the hardware. Don't forget that small changes can also make big differences. Purchase new towel bars, soap dispensers, and wall art if you can't afford a complete makeover. Use your own photographs or pictures from magazines in frames to save even more. Give the bathroom new life with a fresh coat of paint. Use different painting techniques and borders to give your walls more of a pop.

You don't always have to spend a lot to get a lot. Even those on a budget can still have the beautiful bathroom they've always dreamed about. You just have to know where you can cut some of those corners!
