Simplicity best for Brazilian jiu jitsu learners needing any jiu jitsu kimono or rash guards

by Jaky Moorey

Non contact sports don’t need rash guards Since jiu jitsu is a contact sport, a judo kimono would work for beginner students. This is why beginners should instead look for a lighter-weight bjj kimono for practice. Rash guards are a necessity for beginners and advanced fighters to protect their skin.

Those who are trying jiu jitsu do not have to rush to buy a bjj kimono. It may be best to consult an experienced jiu jitsu professional as there are many different types of jiu jitsu kimono and finding the best one for you might require trying different types to find the most comfortable fit.

Practice bjj kimonos are lighter They are usually made of a single weave material, yet are still strong and light-weight. They are also harder to grab like a judo kimono and wash well. Because the light-weight ones are made of a thinner material, they may be the best for a beginner because the material isn’t as stiff and offers better movement and range of motion.

What does it matter which jiu jitsu kimono is worn? It makes a big difference if that jiu jitsu kimono is being worn in competition. A single weave kimono is better for practice and may be worn by some jiu jitsu competitors. However, more experienced martial arts competitors may want to wear a double weave kimono, which is extra thick and also hard for opponents to grab hold of sleeves, etc.

Unlike other sports, jiu jitsu is a contact sport in which competitors try to bring each other down on the mat. By wearing clothing that is hard to grab, competitors make it hard for opponents to accomplish this goal. But, be aware any kimono made of double weave has disadvantages and its biggest one is that it be harder to compete in and feels much stiffer than its lighter weight sister, the single weave kimono.
