Government Auctions - How to Purchase Seized and Unclaimed Property Or Vehicle(s) at Bargain Prices

by Venkata Krishnan Rajagopalan

How would you like to purchase a home for a fraction of the price the home is worth? How about a vehicle for $100? Boats, jewelry and real estate are all part of the many items sold at auction for a mere percentage of the amount they are worth.

The amount of items which are seized yearly from drug busts, the IRS, DEA and Customs are very large in number. This property hast to be sold because if not it has to be stored which costs money. So the police stations, Customs, the IRS and other government agencies all have property which has to be disposed of and what better way to do so than an auction.

The benefits for the consumer are vast. There are so many different items from which to choose. How does one make up their mind? There are sales all the time in every state. The trick is to find out where in your area they are being held. The auctions are normally announced in the local newspaper. Most states have several different sites where the sales are held at any given time.

Another way of searching for the locations of the sales is the Internet. There are several ways of finding where one is located in your area. Normally they have a time prior to the auction that the merchandise can be inspected. This is usually a couple of hours before time for the bidding to start. Many people have gotten vehicles and other merchandise for as much as 90% off the value of the item they bought.

Many of the items that are bid on at these sales are high end quality merchandise that would not be bought anywhere else for the price they go for here. Jewelry, sports memorabilia and antiques are just a part of the items you will find when you visit the auctions. They are a mixture of seized property and unclaimed property.

Find out if you have money coming to you that has been unclaimed. Often people have bank accounts from many years ago that they forget about. They may have had a few dollars in this account and the money has sat there for several years gaining interest.

There are many deals to be had by attending one of these auctions. You may just drive home in a practically new sports car that you picked up for a couple of hundred dollars. This car could be worth several thousand dollars. Or you could be the proud new owner of a home that is purchased for pennies on the dollar. With the prices of everything rising today, not only is this a fun way to find items that you can purchase for very little money but it is smart. What better way to find a deal?
