5 Tips to Maximize Your Vending Profits

First of all, find a place to set your vending machine that wouldn’t cost very much. If a friend or family member has a business where you can set up your machine, put it there as it’s likely they won’t charge you for doing so. Don’t know anyone who has a business that you’d be able to set your machine at? Approach an owner that you know well or are a regular customer of and ask them if you could put your machine there. It’s likely that even if they don’t give you the space for free, the “rent” on the space would be much less. Remember, you should also negotiate the best deal you can. The most common “rent” for vending machines are usually about 10 to 30 of the profit of the machine per month so if you can, get a lower percentage than that.Keep your machine clean. No one wants to get candy from a dirty machine. Keeping your machines tidy and stocked will attract customers much better, in turn giving you more profits. All you have to do is go by and check the machines once a week to see if the machine is filled and if there’s any dust on the machine. You don’t even have to do any major cleaning as a simple wipe should usually take care of any machine. It’s also very important to have the glass of the machine cleaned so that the product shows through well. When I see a dirty, dusty vending machine, I think “Eww. Old products—must be about two years old.” And it’s something you definitely don’t want potential customers to think.Another way to maximize your profits? Put it in a busy place that has a lot of foot traffic! It’s just common sense. The more foot traffic there is, the more people there are who sees the machine and the more likely you’ll get some purchasers. Some great places include malls, supermarkets and popular shops in “walking” downtown areas.Target your customers. If your vending machine area has a lot of little kids, make sure you buy products that target them. If the area has a lot of adults, have the machine vend products that adults would more likely want. If there’s a mixture of ages, have the machines hold a variety of products. You wouldn’t want to fill vending machines at a health club with tons of sugary goods. You probably would have very few customers if you did so.Lastly, make sure your products are fresh. If you see any signs of stickiness or such, replace it and make sure you clean the inside glass when you do so as well. Depending on which kinds of products you use to stock the machine with, the “best by” date will differ. However, to keep things on the safe side, stocking most products about every six months with new products will ensure freshness. Trying different products each time will also be helpful in this as you can see which products sell better than others in your area.By following these tips, your vending business should boom. Happy Vending!
