Does Exercising Cause Headaches?

Everybody knows that exercising frequently is among the things you must do if you want to lose weight. It does not matter what other folks might explain; you cannot lose weight just by sitting around. What most people don't realize however is that exercising can definitely be a pain. You are most likely currently familiar with the fact that exercise can cause pain in your joints, your muscles and your back but did you know that it can also cause headaches? The bad news is that lots of people put up with workout induced headaches but the good news is that there are tons of things that you can do to treat them and keep from getting them again. Drink a lot of water: this is important in regular life but it is extra important while you work out. Headaches are generally a result of being dehydrated and dehydration can definitely occur after a workout, particularly if you work up a good sweat (sweat drains the body's water). Drinking a good amount of water in advance of, during and after your training can do quite a lot to help you prevent the onset of a headache after your workout. This can even make it easier to get rid of the headaches that turn up after the workout has been finished for a while too.

Make sure you carry out a comprehensive warm up and cool down. Jumping straight into a exercise session can be quite a real shock to your system--blood rushes to all of the sites that you are working out and takes it out of your brain which often causes a headache to happen. When you complete a comprehensive warm up, your body will be able to steadily increase the blood flow to the areas that need it and then redistribute it back during your cool down which gives the brain time to adjust to the flow changes.

Breathe deeply throughout any weight lifting or major exercise. Your brain requires oxygen to correctly function in order to survive. People are prone to holding their breath whenever they do something that is hard or strenuous (like the hard parts of your workout) and that slows how much oxygen that gets to your brain. By breathing properly, you will keep a normal flow of oxygen going to your brain and, hopefully, keep the headaches away.

If you find that you are experiencing headaches regularly and nothing that you are trying is reducing them or helping you keep them away, it is time to talk to your doctor. Your health care provider might be able to determine something that you are doing wrong when you are working out or something that may be amiss in your diet. It is possible that you need medication to keep the headaches away. Your physician should be able to help you figure out how to continue working out and losing weight without having to fight off headaches.

None of us really wants to experience a headache; we do everything we can to keep them out. Thankfully you don't have rule that says you merely have to suffer through all of them. If you take the proper measures and have the right knowledge, you could absolutely avoid your headaches!
