Medical Considerations In Skin Tag Removal Methods

by Ryan Andrews

The parts of the body where skin tags often appear on include the underarm area and the neck. It is also noticeable how ladies get skin tags in their upper chests and also in the folds of their groins and butts. Skin tags can also appear in their eyelids. Skin tags may occur to anyone but most commonly they arise in adulthood. From the time you hit the thirties and then well to your sixties, you can expect to be facing the risk of having skin tags. Pregnant women are also more prone to skin tags during this delicate stage, where their hormones are on a constant see-saw. Healthy people who find themselves ridded with skin tags need to acquire proper treatment for them. If you are healthy and do not have any health issues, then you can simply ignore the skin tags and let them stay. After all, there is no proof that skin tags will double or triple in number and severity once you attempt to remove them. Skin tags may grow periodically in some people and removing them may not cause further spread.

Most people do not have a problem with skin tags other than cosmetic issues. After all, they are not itchy or painful at all. Skin tag removal is resorted to by people for the simple reason that they are ugly. Also, irritation of the skin tags would lead to redness, bleeding, and sometimes death of the skin tissues. At this point, they have to be removed. The skin tags could also be irritated when exposed to rough surfaces. Accidental scratching would also cause them to bleed. Precautions must be undertaken and observed carefully if you are the one having these skin tag problems. These skin tags are very gentle in growth and never cause any further cancer or malignant potential. When these tags twisted on itself at the stalk base or interrupting the blood flow to the tag may fall off spontaneously.

During adulthood is when these harmless skin tags mostly appear in many people. Although skin tags need not to be treated medically but some medical treatment options are also available to remove them. These medical treatment options include tie off tags with a piece of string, freezing these tags with liquid nitrogen, burning the tags with electric cautery and removal of tags with scissors with or without anesthetic. If the skin tags to be removed are relatively large, using anesthesia would be advisable since it would be safer to do so. It is recommended that a topical anesthesia cream should be applied in the infected areas where it is desired with large number of skin tags. There are many skin specialists in the medical field who are most experienced in dealing with this type of skin problem. An eye specialist would have to be called in if the skin tag you want removed is in an area around the eyes, or even directly on the eyelids. If you want other means of removing skin tags, you can also try out some treatments you can do yourself and some other home remedies. Tying off the skin tag with a piece of thread or even dental floss can effectively dry out the skin tag until it falls off by itself. A pair of scissors would also be an effective tool in getting rid of skin tags. This kind of scissor or minor surgical procedure in the removal of skin tags causes minor bleeding. One other downside to the freezing or burning treatment methods would be the effect of the process to the color of the skin. The skin could darken or show signs of burning even long after the skin tags have disappeared.
