Blogging Gives Writers Experience and a Reader Following

by Casey Trillbar

It has been said over and over throughout many decades that the best thing a writer can do is to keep writing. Just as cell phone companies and automobile manufacturers are constantly trying to hone and improve their craft to produce something new and better, the same principle applies to writers. Writers who continue to write on a daily basis will adjust to the point where writing is not their second nature, but rather their first nature.

Write about what you love, write about things that make you curious, write about funny things that happened to you in the past, and write about topics that hold your interest on a regular basis. If you are determined to be a writer, let your determination take root and grow. Not all successful writers are born writers. To say this would be to say that all successful athletes are born natural athletes. This simply is not the case.

Many successful athletes who have become the highest paid athletes in the sports industry were turned down repeatedly because coaches, critics, and sports enthusiasts dubbed them "not good enough." They persevered, they continued to practice on a daily basis, they sharpened their skills, and they became successful. This is how many writers need to look at writing. Nobel Prize winners for writing and Pulitzer Prize winners were not always the smartest, the most educated, and the ones with the most natural talent. These famous individuals were often average people who struggled and persevered until they finally got it right.

If you are a writer and want to become a professional writer, you can create a blog and begin writing every single day. Some days, you may feel as if you are reaching out and no one is there and other days, you will feel inspired and motivated. This is all a normal process in blogging and numerous bloggers go through these ups and downs while writing blog entries. Sometimes you may have feedback from readers and other times it may seem as if the world has gone silent.

The important thing to remember is to keep blogging, hone your writing craft, write on subjects which interest and fascinate you so that your writing is authentic, and to persevere even when times are tough. Mark Twain was told he would never make a successful writer and now it is has been said that all modern literature is stemmed from the writings of this famous author. Very few people begin life successful and adept; it takes time to and effort to turn something ordinary into something extraordinary.

Blogging is an ideal way for a writer to develop a loyal reader following and to spread the word about the writer's abilities. If you are not overly confident in your writing abilities, as you blog, you can also research writing methods and styles until you feel confident in the structure and consistency of your blogging and other forms of writing that you may pursue.
