Surviving Global Warming

by Marisa Boyer

Global warming is a known fact including its effects to both the environment and to us. All of us depend on our environment for the ecological processes we and all creatures, from the lowest to the highest order, are part of. All of us should be concerned with the effects of global warming but before we make moves about it, we have to understand global warming and how it comes about.

Global warming is a trend whereby the earths environment near its surface increases in heat. There can be two causes of this, one becoming human-made compounds such as methane gas, chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) and carbon dioxide. Identified sources of methane are rubbish dumps, natural gas career fields, livestock and wastewater sludge, among others, while CFCs result from air-conditioners, aerosol sprays and chemical agents used for cleansing electronic equipment. Carbon dioxide, which is the major man-made contributor to climate change, comes from the using up of fossil fuels for example coal, oil and gas, along with emissions from cars, petroleum-based products and professional plants.

When these types of gases are released in to the air, they become thick the walls from the so-called greenhouse where naturally-occurring gases of the atmosphere remain. Normally, the heat in which comes from the sun and enters this green house escapes so as to produce a favorable temperature for your earth. But because of these emissions, garden greenhouse walls become less permeable and trap a lot more heat than essential. This increasing warmth is now felt in the world in a phenomenon called global warming.

A second yet equally damaging cause of this phenomenon will be ozone, a heat-trapping, naturally occurring fuel in the lower ambiance. When fossil fuels are burned, they create ozone-containing smog which, again, adds to the warmth in the atmosphere as well as makes the earth actually hotter.

There seems to be no more stone still left unturned in terms of the disastrous effects of global warming. Severe and unpredictable temperature is killing sea critters, compromising agricultural activities, threatening the life of millions of varieties as coastal h2o levels rise and also worsening economies start by making food more expensive.

Certainly, this is a time once we, as humans, can be that we are still the many intelligent creatures in the world. We all stand to shed with global warming, but as long as we carry out our share to stop it, regardless of how small, we can still hope and work for an improved planet.
