Emergency Plumbing 101
Everyone living in a home or apartment encounters plumbing problems that must be fixed.
Whenever these circumstances occur, we are not in any position to do some immediate repairs because we don't even know the basic things to do. All we could is to call a plumber to do the repairs even if the cost of repairs will be a bit high. Wouldn't it be nice if you may be able to do minor repairs by yourself, thus not causing you to shell out any penny at all at the same time have that wonderful feeling that you have done a good job? Perhaps it's about time that you learn some basic plumbing difficulty tips to lessen the degree of the problem. There are several types of plumbing difficulties at home that you might face in the future. Minor plumbing difficulties include leak in pipes, sinks getting clogged, and faucets that cannot be shut-off. Perhaps these minor problems can be dealt with even without the help of a real plumber. It is significant to point out that even if these problems may be considered simple, they must not be left unattended because aside from it could lead to more serious problems, they could cause you more money for water loss because of the leaks. It would be advisable to close the main water control to restrain water flow. Inform also the other members of the family of the predicament and teach them on what should be done if the same event happens again. There are certain problems that involve equipment or machines. These equipment and machines have their own control valves. You just have to shut off their control valves. After that, proceed to fix the appropriate equipment to continue the fixing process. The key here is to stop the water supply first and then to take actions to solve the problem before opening up again the water supply. Remember to turn the water off when fixing a clogged sink as it could add to the back-up if you don't. This problem could be eliminated with the use of a snake or plunger to unclog the sink. If the sink is heavily clogged, using any drain scrubbers because it will be useless. It is likely that the entire sink will have needed to be replaced by this point. For loosen faucets, the water supply main valve should be turned off. Use pliers and screw driver to fasten the bolt of the faucet. For minor plumbing problems, you may do the fixing yourself as long as you feel confident that you can deal with them. Just remember to shut off first the water supply before proceeding with the repair of the problems.
