Vinyl shutters or plantation shutters are made door that open and close inside or over a window openings. There are two types of vinyl shutters on the market today.
The first type of vinyl shutters are the ones made of 100% PVC or polymers. They are very affordable and look like regular plantation shutters. 100% vinyl shutters are waterproof and all parts are easy to repair so no hassles. The only disadvantage to 100% vinyl shutters is that they can shine like plastic and might discolor over time. Shades Shutters Blinds has a lifetime warranty against discoloration.
The second type of vinyl shutters is the composite plantation shutters. They are made of a wood and PVC mixture with a vinyl coating to look like paint. The composite vinyl shutters have become increasingly popular over the last few years due to quality and price. Advantages include affordability and durability. Composite vinyl shutters look and feel like real wood. Disadvantages of the composite vinyl shutters include weight (they are heavy) and repairs can sometimes be difficult.
