The Humanist Doctrine

by Ian van Leeuwen

by Ian van Leeuwen

A Humanist is first and foremost a man of conscience. Questioning his own actions and those with whom he associates, till he comes to a conculsion that is morally justifiable to him. Allowing himself an earned share of the common pot, while permitting the laziest of the lazy to have a full belly and a place to sleep. Realizing that sometimes a good kick up the rear end is more helpful then a pat on the head, but first the pat on the head. Helping people is a fundamental part of his being. Cultural differences are part of his society. Assimilation doses not happened as these cultures are allowed to form their own place in society. Laws are designed for the protection of all of the people, and not used any political agenda. Religion is permitted and allowed its place in society. The moral values it portrays should be human, while all that they hold sacred should be respected. Nothing is forced on any individual. Having all its members in full agreement with it. Respecting life, not worshiped. Life is eternal, only changing in form. Compassion is what makes him human, while pragmatism is what keeps him alive.
