Cornwall holidays give you a wide choice of activities. One of the most popular is the opportunity to explore the many historic houses and estates in the region.

Godolphin House - Godolphin House is a wonderful building that dates back to the Elizabethan era. The garden is also worth seeing. It is much the same as it was when first constructed 500 years ago.

The estate is open all year. The garden stays open from 13th March to 31st October between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., but closes on Thursdays and Fridays.

Cotehele House - Cotehele House and its gardens is one of the highlights of historic Cornwall. Holidays here aren’t really complete without paying it a visit.

The house is Tudor and stands between Saltash and Tavistock. Inside, you can walk among tapestries, oak furniture and armour. It’s worth buying one of the guidebooks because then can you learn about the stories and myths that adorn the history of the house.

The gardens include a medieval dovecote, orchards and terraces. There’s also Cotehele Quay nearby. This has a Discovery Centre and a restored sailing barge.

The Trevarno Estate - The Trevarno Estate near Helston is another place that all those who come to Cornwall for holidays should try to visit. The estate has the National Museum of Gardening; a soap museum; a toy museum; and a centre devoted to bees.

In the gardens is a lake with a Victorian boathouse. You’ll also find a tunnel of yew trees, a bamboo collection and an Italian garden among many other features. The estate is open every day except Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

Pencarrow House - To the north-west of Bodmin is Pencarrow House. You can tour the Georgian interior of the house and see fine porcelain and furniture. Afterwards, you can stroll around the 50 acres of gardens. Look out in particular for the grotto and the wishing well.

Antony House - Antony House is an impressive mansion dating from the early 1700s that’s now in the hands of the National Trust. The house is to the west of Plymouth near to Torpoint.

The house has a good collection of paintings and furniture, and the gardens have some relaxing walks.

These are just some of the historic houses and estates in Cornwall. Take Cornwall holidays here and you can visit these and many more. Why not plan your trip now?
