When it's Time to Remodel, the Way to Ensure the Job is Done Right, Bring in an Expert Plumber

The architect has drawn the plans, a general contractor has been engaged, the permits have been pulled, and it's time to get on with that remodeling project that will transform the house into a dream home.
Has everything been thought through? Probably not. While architects and contractors by nature have to be pretty detailed, often overlooked in many remodeling projects are some of the more specific nuances that will make a good project great.
No matter how much general experience a contractor or architect may have, experts advise that when it comes to master details such as plumbing, it is better to have a master plumber on board from the very beginning of the planning.
Adding-on, enlarging or replacing modern conveniences that involve plumbing and water fixtures are, more often than not, a major remodeling project on any home: new kitchens, bathrooms, wet bars, laundry rooms, finished basements. Have the add-ons been looked at in the context of the home's entire plumbing system? Will the sewer system, hot water supply, and current water pressure measurements be able to handle the excess capacity being added? Will digging in and around the property disrupt the existing sewer or water main?
A master plumber, involved from the beginning, can insure that added water-use and waste disposal capacity is up to par, and recommend any changes that will guarantee a new addition or whole renovation will operate as advertised. In addition, most complete plumbing contractors stock water-based appliances, and they can deliver and install the best toilets, sinks, disposals, hot tubs whirlpool tubs, showers, hot water heaters and tankless hot water solutions, even washers and dryers, often at prices even general contractors can't find.
Homeowners anticipating a major or even minor remodeling project have every right to insist that experts in such sub-specialties as plumbing and electrical be brought in early in the process to insure that the portion of the project dedicated to their niche is handled with the highest degree of expertise.
Experts say, one of those particular subcontractor issues that is better addressed head-on is plumbing. The truth is, not every general plumber has the supply contacts to deliver the appliances and fixtures the job calls for nor have they necessarily re-plumbed a home for a new-build, which means the low bidder may not have all the requisite expertise for the job at hand.
Doing it right the first time, even at extra expense, could save thousands of dollars in retro-fit costs down the line.
