How To Make Money Without Really Trying

by Chris Spencer

In truth, the only answer to how to make money without really trying is that people can't. Any accomplishment worth the achievement requires effort, but one can make money digging ditches or earn money thinking intelligently and making wise choices. One definitely requires more effort than the other. Earning money with one's mind requires a lot more preparation beforehand but much less toil, strain and stress.

Low effort money-making requires a business battle plan, since making money is always a business. It necessitates a basic understanding of what money is, how it functions and how it can be used to earn even more money. Without a doubt, the easiest and most foolproof way to make money is to have money. It earns interest all by itself. A savings account fills up fast and never stops paying out.

People are often amazed at how much money can be saved from simply cutting back on every day expenses. Frugal living can cut household expenditure by 25 to 50%. It's an old saying but a true one that a penny saved is a penny earned. Recently, a charity organization raised funds by asking people to donate the pennies in their change jar, which most people have. That organization raised well over two million dollars on pennies alone.

Those saved pennies can be kept in a bank to grow interest. If someone reduces a $50,000 a year budget, he can save $10,000 to $20,000 simply by cutting back and making more thrifty choices. That $10,000 over five years is a significant amount of savings to gain interest on. If a person is able to save $20,000 over the same five years, that amount of savings quickly escalates to earned interest that will offer a good second income.

It's also a good idea for a money saver to take stock of products, resources, gadgets, vehicles and other fare that he isn't using. Selling these will not reduce the quality of his lifestyle and yet will raise substantial amounts of money to go into savings.

Collecting recyclable material is not only a green activity, it's a way to make money without buying anything. It's not just a matter of finding aluminum cans. Many other forms of waste are also recyclable, including newsprint, cardboard, many kinds of metals, plastic bottles, some food containers and many more. Dumpster diving and park-picking can produce a lot of materials that may then be recycled.

Many people dumpster dive as a source of income. Legalities vary in different locations, so one should always be aware of local restrictions, but people have been known to pull out very valuable items from somebody else's garbage. Not everyone gets a TV repaired. If someone who is handy at repairing appliances merely picked up the discarded gadgets, TVs and similar gear from a dumpster, they could make a decent living simply repairing those items and selling them. The same might be said of toys.

None of these activities alone will make anyone a millionaire. When these or similar projects are undertaken over time, a considerable savings account can be amassed. Savers are often amazed at how quickly it happens. The best part is that savers don't need to know how to make money. Their money earns interest on its own.
