How You Watch Online Videos Is Getting Better And Better

by Shane Stanley

Thanks to all the improvements over the last few years and with the availability of lots of content, people do watch online videos daily. Things are getting better. Gone are the days of blurry, jerky, tiny YouTube clips. Online video technology is exploding with newer, better, faster, and clearer videos. Here are even more ways your online video viewing experiences will continue to improve.

• You can skip video ads. Today, it's entirely possible to have the ability to click past all those annoying video ads. It is possible. New services allow the viewer to bypass the ads, thus saving time and allowing for uninterrupted video experience.

• You can watch more videos in HD. We didn't invest in those large HD monitors for nothing, so get what you paid for. Low-resolution videos are a dinosaur of technology's prehistory. You can buy pocket video cameras that have HD capability and new smartphones have it as well.

• You can load now, and watch later. As popular as it is to view online videos, it still takes a while for them to load. That agonizing wait to watch the latest trailer is simply not easy on your patience. Plus, if you're on a YouTube spree, you might have seven tabs open, waiting for videos to load in all of them. Thankfully, many video services now allow users to load a video, or more than one as the case may be, and then watch it later. You may not be able to speed up the download time, but at least you have the assurance that your video will be ready to view when you are.

• You can watch videos offline. Similarly, you'll also have the ability to watch video clips offline which means that even if you're out of 3G, 4G or WiFi range, you can still watch your videos. This is a great option if you're planning on getting away from it all, but are still craving the comfort of a few good online videos. You'll just need to plan ahead.

• You can set up better video queues. Being able to watch videos online is great but you have to be "right there" when the video ends to start another one. Every three to four minutes, you have to go hunting for a new video to watch. Imagine being able to arrange entire lists of videos to playback. Instead of the desperate hunt for a fresh pick, you can carefully arrange your playlist, much as you would create a song list.

Watching online videos is a relatively recent phenomenon in human history, and it's not going away. Thankfully, there are still more improvements to come, and more -- much more -- to look forward to.
