Bath Lifts are Giving People Back Their Privacy

by Ivan Cuxeva Jr

Many people who are faced with mobility problems have been forced to give up much of their independence. Simple things normally taken for granted, like bathing, are a seemingly impossible feat for those who are burdened with immobility. However, due to the new technologies that we are presented with every day, bath lifts have given independence back to those who would otherwise not be able to enjoy a long, relaxing bath.

Bath lifts are designed to lift the person from the side of the tub, and lower them into the tub for a bath. Once the bath is finished, the lift then brings them back up and over the side of the tub to the floor. Bath lifts are an amazing invention in that they give back the ability to enjoy a bath to people who had otherwise been forced to bathe via shower or sponge bath.

Having a bath lift installed has helped many people enjoy the freedom that they once had. Lifts are powered by batter, or by water, and some are activated by the user’s body movements. Bath lifts have replaced the need for someone to be with you when you want to bathe. The dependency on others has been effectively removed from bathing, and you are now free to take your bath completely without an audience. They are a safe way to enjoy your bath. With no worries of slipping and falling, you will have a more enjoyable bath, and will be able to enjoy your bath completely alone.

There are a wide variety of bath lifts available. Some have seats that lift and swivel to carry the user safely over the tub’s edge and lower them into the water. There is also the choice of a rotating seat which is operated by a lever on the outside of the tub. This model will lower the user completely to the bottom of the tub so that they can enjoy the maximum water depth that the tub will provide.

With all the devices that have been invented to help people with mobility difficulties improve their independence and freedom, the bath lift may very well be the most appreciated one. No longer do people have to feel helpless and embarrassed when they want to bathe. The invention of the bath lift has given freedom back to bathers, and has taken some of the burden off caregivers.
