Natural gas is an important and necessary form of energy utilized especially in developed countries. Natural gas' significance and usefulness is most of the time compared and even linked to the usefulness of gasoline or oil. In the United States alone, there are many companies and industries that can never run without natural gas supply. Thus, the importance of Columbia Gulf pipeline can never be underestimated. Columbia gas pipeline facilities transport natural gas from the Gulf of Mexico to New York

It took time before every Columbia Gulf pipeline has been fully developed and made operational. It is a common knowledge that the pipes utilized by every Columbia gas pipeline are hundreds if not thousands of kilometers long. Such facilities are permanent fixtures and are exposed to environmental and social destructions. The existence of a Columbia Gulf pipeline is a living proof that natural gas transport is important. Before any Columbia gas pipeline was established, rails and trucks carried natural gas from Gulf of Mexico to New York. But because such activities are tedious, risky and are very costly, Columbia Gulf pipeline projects were put in place.

If there are still people who are not familiar with the overall usefulness of every Columbia gas pipeline, there is surely a need for them to be reminded. As mentioned, every Columbia Gulf pipeline functions to transport natural gas from its sources in the Gulf of Mexico thousands of kilometres towards New York.

The Columbia gas pipeline facilities have two terminals, namely, the receiving in New York and the source in the Gulf. The terminals serve as repositories and stations where natural gas is transacted and transported. Thus, the gas is made to travel by itself within the pipes instead of being stored in tanks and transported via trucks or trains. Thus, risks in roads and railways are significantly eradicated.

Aside from that, Columbia Gulf pipelines help lessens the costs of natural gas transports. As mentioned, the need to transport by trucks and railways is cancelled. The only costs incurred are the operational and maintenance expenses of the Columbia gas pipeline stations.

As far as overall public and general safety is concerned, every Columbia gas pipeline is made safe. Through there always would be risks and potential accident occurrences, every Columbia Gulf pipeline is made to last longer, endure external pressures and withstand weathering. If there are inevitable leakages and pressure problems that occur, operators are required to quickly resolve problems. That is why there are numerous regulations in place to regulate and monitor safety provisions in every Columbia gas pipeline.
