MKS Versus Town Car
As many of you may know by now, Lincoln will be replacing the traditional Town Car model with the newer MKS.
For readers which are also in the airport shuttle industry, this is actually kind of a big change. Not only is it simply the newest vehicle in a very long line of Lincoln luxury sedans, it is actually lined up to replace what is considered the most well respected and reliable automobiles in the ground transportation industry.
Limousines and Town Cars have always been the most favored vehicles for those who work in the private ground transportation business.
Now, the Lincoln MKS certainly does possess a more stylish appearance than the Town Car on the exterior. With that said, the Town Car has several key advantages from a logistical stand point.
Take for the example the fact that the MKS seems to have considerably less trunk space. This alone could cause some issues considering the Town Car is traditionally used as an airport shuttle vehicle and must have room for luggage.
Also, not only does it have considerably less trunk space, the vehicle itself seems to be a little bit more slim. The inside of the vehicle is reasonably comfortable, but for some strange reason it simply does not 'feel' as if it has the same amount of room as the Town Car..
In terms of comfortableness, one of the hallmarks of the traditional Lincoln Town Car was the surplus of leg room and seating in the back seat to compliment the more than adequate amount of luggage space in the trunk.
Truth be told, clients who ride in the Town Car typically feel extremely comfortable with the amount of space that is available, not to mention the overall luxurious accommodation that comes with private car service..
As nice as the MKS may be, it feels more like you are riding in the backseat of a very nice car, but not one that caters to you as a private passenger in need of both space and luxury.
The MKS does offer quite a few options that the Town Car has traditionally lacked. In fact, for the amount of amenities that it offers, the cost is actually pretty fair.
As an individual using the car for private use, I really do see the upside of buying a Lincoln MKS. The latest design offers state of the art capabilities that are not only new altogether, but truly innovative convenient.
With that said, from the view point of one who is actually in the transportation industry, there is just simply something very special about the Lincoln Town Car.
Having been in the Town Car Service industry for well over 20 years, we will certainly miss the tradition. SFO Car Service may very well be better off with the newest addition, but we will certainly appreciate the good years that the Town Car has given us.
