Jello Shots And Jello Shot Recipes
Information on how to make a jello shot, jello shot recipes and a guide to the ratio of alcohol-water-to jello.
Making a Jello shot is a lot like making regular Jello but instead of adding water, alcohol is the major fluid added instead. The jello shot mixture is then poured into glass shot glasses, plastic shot glasses or tiny cups instead of using big bowls.
A Jello Shot Making Guide
For a basic selection of tasty jello shots, a simple jello shot recipe has been drawn up for you to make at your next party, at home or for your bar. The recipe is as follows: 1 6 ounce box of jello, what ever flavour you choose 16 fl ounces of hot water 6 fl ounces water 10 fl ounces of alcohol - 40% or above.
Grab yourself a good sized mixing bowl and add the gelatine powder together with the boiling water. Let the jello mix sit for approximately one minute to fully dissolve the gelatine. After this brief time has elapsed stir for another minute, this will get the mix well circulated and once this has been done let the gelatine cool for around 5 to 10 minutes.
The next step once the jello mix has cooled is to stir in cold water and add the alcohol in the proper ratios. Set out a tray and get the fridge clear with enough room for your jello shots. When ready, pour the jello mixture into small cups or your shot glasses. The tray needs to be put in the refrigerator for over three hours, this is essential for the jello shots to set thoroughly.
Tips
Depending on the strength of alcohol used, you need to adjust the ratio of alcohol to cold water to make sure the jello sets properly. Use the following ratios to ensure your jello shots set properly:
13 ounces of 30-50 proof alcohol - 20/30% abv - to 3 ounces cold water 10 ounces 80-100 proof alcohol - 40/45% abv - to 6 ounces cold water 6 ounces 150-200 proof alcohol - 75/100% abv- to 10 ounces cold water. Now if you want stronger jello shot the recipe can be amend to how u like. This variation makes up to 6 large cups with 2oz (2x"shots") of alcohol in each, or 12 small cups with 1oz of alcohol in each, What ever size the of shot you go for it still sets hard and tastes great.
