Generic drugs - assured pleasure at reduced prices
At a time when ‘quality’ and ‘cost-effective’ are the most successful marketing jargons, generic drugs are the perfect example of a successful marketing strategy. Generic drugs which can in common terms be defined as the mirror image of branded drugs in all quality and effectuality, differs from the brand products only in terms of the cost factor. Generic drugs are either manufactured by the originating brand drug manufacturer along with its brand product or by other companies after the expiry of the patent period of a drug. They have to be FDA-approved, citing the generic drug's chemistry, manufacturing steps, and quality control measures.Only those generic drugs are approved by the FDA which is shown to be bio-equivalent/therapeutically equivalent to their brand name counterparts. Generic drugs have in recent times become hugely popular as they provide the same high quality performance as their brand products but with prices as low as 66 of the brand drugs.
