Over the last few years Aromatherapy has become the it word but many people ask what does it actually mean. Well Aromatherapy is the use of liquid plant material to provide a beneficial effect on a persons mood or health.

The beneficial effects of the natural essential oils are released by the use of gentle heat and in Aromatherapy the fragrance oils from various different plants such as Sandalwood are burned to release their active properties, whilst such oils as sesame are rubbed into the body so that its heat helps to release these oils properties or they may be used in other ways.

You will often find that aromatherapy is used in conjunction with massage therapy and because its natural you will often find that a health professional or masseuse will choose to combine these two therapies together because of their benefits when used alongside one and other.

Massage therapy is the kneading or placing of pressure on different areas of the body in order to help relieve the tension the patient is feeling and during this process there are different kinds of massage lotions or aromatic oils which will be used. Whilst these lotions may help to soften a skin (just one benefit) they also provide the masseuse or health professional treating the client with lubrication will allows deeper lying tissue in the body to be treated.

Massage can not only relax a person but it can stimulate them as well and it all depends on what kind of massage is being used. With the use of aromatherapy alongside the massage it enhances the relaxation that the person will feel and as you will soon find that just as massage helps to relieve stress and tension that you feel, the essential oils used in aromatherapy will increase the effects that the person is feeling. Nowadays you will find that many Spas and Salons offer their clients aromatherapy treatments along with massage or other beneficial treatments that they provide. Often you will soon find that aromatherapy helps to enhance the benefits of a stimulated massage by increasing the blood circulation around the body and improving a persons breathing. Many Spas and Bio-medical centres now offer those clients with circulatory or respiratory problems a stimulating massage.
