Crime and Punishment Section 3 Chapter five
In the prior chapter, Raskolnikov meets Sonya who invites Raskolnikov to her father's funeral. Sonya desires Raskolnikov to go the funeral. In the course of time, Raskolnikov informs Razumikhin that he desires to get back a trinket from the deceased pawnbroker. The police officer in charge probably has the item. The two men decide to go to his house as they attempt and recover the item.
The 5th chap of the third part of Crime and Punishment starts as Razumikhin and Raskolnikov enter the officer's apartment. Razumikhin is stumbling about due to the fact he is flustered that Raskolnikov knows he is in love with Dunya. On the other hand, Raskolnikov wants to be tranquil and familiar when talking to the police officer. He fails at this however and chuckles weirdly. Raskolnikov is also uncomfortable because Zamyotov is nearby. Razumikhin exacerbates the problem by talking abot the death of the pawnbroker with Porfiry. He seems to have forgotten the doctor's advice to not discuss about the murder when around Raskolnikov. Raskolnikov is panicking on the inside and thinks the police officer suspects Raskolnikov of the murder. He nearly falls unconcious when Porfiry calls out him when talking about the death of the the rich old woman. Now Raskolnikov is very distrustful and almost thinks that Porfiry already knows that Raskolnikov commited the crime. The police officer brings attention to an essay written by the main character. It was published by a company and was written by Raskolnikov. He had no idea that it made it to actually become published. The commentary talks about the idea that some people have the ability and the intelligence to kill ruthless people. Porfiry is very interested in the article and asked Raskolnikov about it. Razumikhin is downright astounded that Raskolnikov believes such things. Raskolnikov then stands up to go. Porfiry talks to him about the painters, trying to trick Raskolnikov into admitting to the murder but he is not fooled. The topic ends as they exit the house.
