by Tomer Harel

All employers are aware of the fact that communication is important. He is looked up to for leadership and guidance because he runs a company. Clients need to know that you are willing to communicate with them. There are some keys to staying in touch with people so that they will trust you and enjoy doing business with you. It will be well worth your time to learn how to communicate effectively to those involved in your business.

One thing that you can do to stay in touch with your employees and clients is to send them emails. People want to know what is going on in your company and it's your job to keep the doors of communication open. Your employees will want to know about changes within the company and how they are going to be affected. Clients are interested in sales, return policies, hours of operation and other similar information.

Calling your employees and customers is another way to stay in touch. Too often, people feel disconnected from their employers and thus, aren't as productive as they could be. Customers are often ignored when they ask to speak to the boss about a complaint or concern. If you want people to appreciate you and come back to your establishment, they need to know that you are genuinely concerned. Sometimes, a phone call from the chief executive will let people know that you take their concerns seriously.

Staff meetings are another effective way to communicate with your workers. There is a right and wrong way to conduct a meeting. First of all, you need to be prepared. Meetings should not be just about you and your agenda. They should be used as a means to deal with issues, provide information, brainstorm and get feedback. Contrary to popular belief, meetings do not have to be boring. If the meeting is conducted in a professional way, people will be interested in participated. Also, they will enjoy the opportunity to get to speak their opinions, give their ideas and help think of new ways to do things. Meetings should be comfortable and short. While it's not unusual for meetings to be mandatory, you need to do your best to make sure you communicate effectively. Everyone should be encouraged and morale should be higher than ever at the end of a meeting with the employers.

Besides just basic means of communicating, every employer needs to know the right way to communicate. Unfortunately, many bosses don't know how to talk to their employees or won't take the time to do it. Yes, it takes time and effort, but people need to be heard and you need to know how to talk to them. One way for this to happen is to actually be concerned about your employees and customers.

Those who work with you every day, rather as an employee or client, know rather or not you care. Your actions, attitude and words are all quick to give a message. If you are truly concerned, it will be obvious to those around you. If not, that will be obvious as well. Some employers feel that they are above others and don't have the time to listen or talk to those they consider inferior. This results in poor morale, loss of customers and breakdowns in communication.

Most people remember at least one boss or manager that they dealt with who genuinely cared about their situation. A customer may have a concern or complaint and that employer listened and made it right. A worker may have needed some guidance regarding a personal issue and there was a boss who was sensitive to the needs of the worker and helped her through the rough time.

A conscientious business owner knows how important it is to have good relationships with people. No matter how well your company seems to be going, you can't make it alone. You need workers who are productive and they can only be productive if they feel that their lives are important and their jobs are worthwhile. You also need customers, people who will buy your products and ultimately keep you in business by paying the bills, salaries, and rent. Thinking that you are too good for people will cause them to resent you and you will lose valuable customers and staff members.

One of the most important things that you can do for both your customers and employees is to listen to them. Most people just want to be heard. It is your job then, to give them that time and they, in turn will be more willing to invest in you and your products. The better you treat people, the better they will treat you. There are so many gadgets and devices on the market today to help us communicate better. Take advantage of them, learn to communicate and you will find people to be more willing to work with you and invest in your products.
