Will Cannabis Ever Be Legal In The UK?
Fingers crossed…
Cannabis has been in use for centuries. It was the drug of choice for many artists and great thinkers in the world, along with high society and pretty much everyone that could get their hands on it. It was thought of as a creative aid and was highly prized in most areas of society.

Now in the UK it is looked down upon as a social cancer that will destroy our lives and the lives of our children and the actual fabric of our communities with its dirty horrible evilness.

This is just a media view though. There are facets of UK culture that still love it and want nothing than for it to be legalised and given the respect it deserves. Especially considering the fact that alcohol and cigarettes are much more detrimental to people's health than cannabis will ever be and yet they are legal.

Major Movement

It would take a massive amount of people power to make the legality of cannabis ever even come up for debate by government. There would need to be a major mindset change amongst large portions of the UK who still hold old fashioned views, or who never vote despite wanting to see a change to the laws on cannabis. It's actually a bit like independence in Scotland as there is a great deal of effort going into posturing the country towards a full independence vote, but when the country actually gets the chance vote, it is unlikely enough people would really want it. Cannabis is a popular drug but I don't think more than just a hardcore of people will ever want it to be completely legal.

Financial

One reason why the government might just make it legal overnight is the fact that the UK would make money out of it. The government could get tax revenue from its sale, they would save money spent on policing it and they would gain a great deal of money from the increase of drug tourists coming to the UK.

Scientific Advancements

If cannabis and cannabis seeds are developed to a point where it is the best type of painkiller available, the government could be persuaded to legalise it for medical purposes. This is probably the most likely scenario in the near future as places like California in the US, along with some other states have done exactly that. Different strains like Lowryder seeds and Amnesia Haze offer different potent qualities which could eventually qualify them medically.

Also, if it was possible to develop cannabis to a stage where you could prove it was not detrimental to health in any way; there may be no reason to treat it like an outlaw at all.
